1. Perform a complete SEO audit of your website
You can run a website scan to find out why you're not getting the traffic and customers you want. There are SEO agencies that offer this service, but you can also do the check yourself and save a lot of money.
An audit examines whether processes, requirements and guidelines meet the required standards. You can subject a concept, finance or website to an audit in order to use the knowledge gained to make better decisions in the future. An SEO audit is basically growth hacking, because you look specifically for techniques and strategies to retain and retain customers.
A full website review examines the overall performance of the website, then sets new goals, and specifically implements new strategies to achieve those goals. This is how you maximize your profit and use existing content.
This doesn't sound like an advanced SEO strategy, but surprisingly few companies make use of basic concepts such as title tags and meta descriptions. These elements are often overlooked when creating a new website, but can easily be found and optimized with an audit.

Think of Kickstarter, a platform for projects that collect donations. Many campaigns and projects initially remain invisible until the first donations arrive. Then more and more donations are added.
But where can you find data on the interests of users?
And how do you get feedback from the ideal customer if you don't have any real customers yet?
I have a couple of ideas:
- Search for ideas on Quora or other social networks
- Check out Google Analytics to see which of your articles are particularly popular
- Find out which articles are shared the most
- Read through the comments from the readers of your blog
I would like to go into the social networks first.
Ask yourself the following question: "Where are my customers on the Internet and what topics are they talking about?"
I personally use Quora.
On this platform I have direct access to my target group and can also learn from experts. Whenever I want to write a book or put together an online course, I search Quora for questions that have been asked by users to brainstorm ideas for my content.
How to find suitable questions on Quora:
Step # 1: Open Quora. Sign in with Google or Facebook, or create a free account.
Then enter a keyword (e.g. Blog traffic) and press the Enter key.
Step # 2: Read through users' questions on the topic.
If you know the answers to the questions asked, you should write a blog post about it.
You now know that the Quora user wants to know more about this topic. If a user asked this question, you can assume that there are more people who have asked this question before.
Step # 3: Collect new ideas for your blog posts.
Quora is a real treasure trove for new ideas. It's impossible to know everything about SEO, which is why I visit the website regularly for further training.
The above question already has 16 answers received and it's just a matter of many. Think about how many high quality content can be found on this platform and are just waiting to be found.
Collect suitable questions on a specific topic and then use them to put together an outline for your next blog post.
You can also use Google Analytics to find out which topics your visitors are particularly interested in.
Step # 1: Log in to Google Analytics and click in the left menu on Behavior -> Website content -> All pages.
Step # 2: Find out which pages and blog posts are getting the most page views.
The number of page views is an important metric, but you should also pay attention to how much time the visitor spends on the respective page on average (the longer, the better!). The bounce rate and% exits also provide important information.

The average time that the visitor spends on my page shows me whether he is really reading the article in full or just skimming it.
If the visitor stays on the page for less than a minute, you can assume that they just skim the article.
If the visitor leaves the page after 30 seconds, he probably didn't find the article interesting enough.
The Bounce rate is the percentage of visits to a single page without interaction with another page. This metric alone does not provide any indication of success or failure, but ideally the visitor should visit two to three pages.
The % Exits indicates the percentage of website exits on the respective page. Even this key figure does not give you a complete overview, but if the exit rate is 99%, it could be because the visitor could not find the information he was looking for and is looking elsewhere.
To find out what topics your readers are interested in, check out how often your content is shared on social media.
You can do that BuzzSumo to use. Enter your URL and click "Go".
Now you get a list with the most popular content of the entered URL, sorted by shares in the social networks.
This is how you can find out which articles are popular and are shared particularly often. Your readers will usually share an article when they agree other people might find the article helpful.
This key figure tells you which content is perceived as particularly helpful.
Do you want to know how to read the minds of your website visitors? Then read through their comments.
If you answer the questions that your readers care about in your blog posts, you will gain more search traffic.
3. Create SEO-optimized landing pages
A beautifully designed landing page leads to more leads and customers. The more Landing pages You create, the more entry points for search traffic your website has.
Unfortunately, there are still many B2B companies that haven't understood the importance of a landing page for lead generation.
The SEO research company MarketingSherpa says that 44% of visitors to a B2B website land on the homepage, not a landing page. The start page is also important, but customer loyalty and the development of customer relationships take place on the landing page.
Let me explain this to you using an example.
Copyblogger creates pages on popular topics. Each of these pages is a landing page that contains professional graphics and is simple but modern.
The company publishes press releases and uses email marketing and SEO optimization to drive visitors to these landing pages.

The most important components of a landing page are:

Do you think these pages are valuable from an SEO perspective?
Do other websites link to such content and is it actually shared on social media?
It's easy to find out.
Go to Ahrefs.com and enter the URL of a landing page, e.g. B. http://www.copyblogger.com/copywriting-101/, and click on “Search Links”.
The screenshot above shows that the site has 799 trustworthy inbound links, has already been shared over 1,000 times on Twitter and has been “Like” 446 times on Facebook. So the site seems to be doing exactly what it was built for, which is collecting leads.
You can make a lot of money with landing pages.
Conversion Rate Experts helped Moz raise $ 1 million for just small tweaks on the landing page and a few emails.
Current research show that companies with 10-15 landing pages achieve up to 55% more conversions than companies with just ten landing pages.

“Design is King,” says Derek Halpern. If your content is helpful but the design is terrible, you still won't get new customers.
The design makes your site unique and relevant for the respective target group. The landing page of Paper Anniversary has a nice design and was created with Unbounce. The site converts 76% of visitors!
The text is well worded, the video is engaging, and the customer reviews win new visitors' trust.
Step # 4: Now all you have to do is build links for your new site.
You can't avoid building links, because there is no alternative. Links are an important ranking factor and will probably always be.
Without high-quality links, your page will not be placed in the search results, as you can write the best texts and comply with all other SEO factors. Since 75 percent of all visitors do not even open the second page of the search results, you have to place your own website as high up as possible.
4. Make sure your website is mobile-friendly
In any case, your website must display and function properly on mobile devices.
In May 2016, Google released a new algorithm update that had a major impact on the ranking of mobile-friendly websites and preferred responsive sites.
Over 60% of daily searches are performed on a mobile device.
There are even more in the retail sector. Business Insider predicts that later this year 45% of all online purchases in the United States can be performed using a mobile device. That's equivalent to total sales of $ 284 billion!
These statistics point to an important development and show us that without a mobile website you can no longer be competitive.
A mobile website is not a luxury, it is a must.

Enter your URL in the box and click on “Test URL”.
On the next page you can then see if your website is mobile-friendly.
If it fails the test, it needs to be revised and redesigned!
In this case, you will likely need to rethink your entire web design to adapt it for mobile devices. Since these changes are very extensive and complicated, a completely new website is often worthwhile. Best see it as an opportunity to give your brand a new and fresh look.
5. Increase your traffic with infographics
Infographics are very popular because they present complicated information in a simplified form and make it understandable. There 65% of all people Learn better with visual aids, a graphic is often better suited to convey important points and thus complement your article.

Canva has beautiful templates that all you have to do is edit. Simply click on the area to be revised and get started.
You can change texts and insert new pictures. Canva even has its own library of symbols, photos, shapes, and graphics that you can use.
When the infographic is ready, all you have to do is click the “Download” button and you can save it to your computer as a PNG file.
Step # 3: Write a blog post and use your new infographic. Now you can use the collected data to write a detailed article about your infographic and incorporate the graphic into the article.
The infographic is more likely to be shared when embedded in a complementary article.
If your infographic "10 ways to make your website faster”, You could explain each of your ten tips in detail in the accompanying blog post.
If the Article is at least 2,000 words long and accompanied by an infographic, you can double your traffic.

How does Google know what was meant by my searches?
RankBrain interprets new search queries by using a database of thousands of previous, similar search queries.
Another example would be to search for the term “Apple”. This can mean two things:

- or the hardware and software company founded by Steve Jobs
How does Google know what was meant? The company or the fruit? Maybe I'm looking for something completely different, who knows?
RankBrain tells the Googlebot how the found Content needs to be indexedby observing and interpreting user behavior.
As Google has become much more sophisticated, we no longer have to clutter our content with keywords to ensure that Google interprets the content correctly.
Under no circumstances should you do keyword stuffing!
Keyword stuffing refers to overloading a website with redundant keywords to influence the ranking of the website in Google search results. This is forbidden and should therefore be avoided at all costs.
The following keywords are all related to each other: iPhone Reviews, Best iPhone Reviews, New iPhone Reviews. However, if you use these terms all on your page or in your article, you will have a negative impact on your ranking, especially if the page is only 300 to 500 words contains.
Here is a snippet of text that contains redundant keywords:
Would you like to learn Java online? Most Java tutorials are not suitable for beginners who want to learn Java online because most platforms for learning Java online are not user-friendly. The second excerpt is much easier to read and easier to understand because it was not crammed with unnecessary keywords.
RankBrain can nevertheless correctly interpret and assign this content.
I'll show you now how to find synonyms for keywords.
- Look for alternative terms that have the same meaning but a different structure. Example: picture and photo.
- You shouldn't overdo it with the use of the keyword, because otherwise you could get yourself a fine. Only use the keyword if it fits the context and can be incorporated into the text in a natural way!
- The text has to sound natural. The new and additional keyword must not drown out the main keyword. The alternative keywords should just give the main keyword more context and help Google interpret the content correctly.
Marketing Land is a great example of this.
Marketing Land always optimizes its content for a main keyword and a few synonyms. When the keyword is “YouTube”, the terms come up Videos, channel and Video source also in the text.
For example, if the keyword was “Facebook”, additional terms would be social network, share posts, links and Comments, that's why all of these terms appear in the text.
Google finds and recognizes these terms and if the text sounds natural, the ranking of your page increases.
7. Write articles that contain at least 1,890 words
Backlinko has analyzed a million searches and found that the pages in search results that appear on the first page of Google are at least 1,890 words contain.
The company has conducted numerous studies and experiments to find a relationship between the length of a page and its position in search results.
The graphic above shows that the contents of the first five search results consist of an average of 1,900 words.
I ran my own experiment with QuickSprout and found that blog posts that are over 1,500 words long worked almost shared on social media twice as often like shorter articles.
The length is not decisive, because short, but high-quality articles can achieve better results than low-quality, long articles.
The trick is to provide the reader with just the right information. If readers appreciate the content and find it helpful, Google will return the favor and place it higher in search results.
Long and in-depth articles automatically contain more relevant keywords that Google can read and index.
A study by Ahrefs shows that the page is ranked # 1 in Google search results on average for 1,000 keywords.
That's a lot of SEO power!
If you regularly write new and in-depth blog posts that are at least 1,890 words long, you will get more organic search traffic as a reward.
8. Write a round-up article
A so-called Round-up article contains interviews with several people who are recognized as experts in their subject area.
A round-up post is not only good for presenting different points of view and perspectives, it is also good for SEO and generates a lot of traffic.
Here is one such round-up article: 27 PR Experts Reveal Their Secret Strategy for Handling a Media Crisis
The author contacted 27 experts, asked them all the same questions (“How would you get a media crisis under control?”) And then summarized the results of the survey in one article.
Simple, yet efficient!
The great thing about articles like this is the fact that you can use this strategy to reach new readers and target groups, namely those of the surveyed participants.
I mean, if you were to be interviewed, you would surely share the article with your readers afterwards, wouldn't you?
Deirdre Breakenridge was interviewed for the mentioned article and, after it was published, joined her with her 30,000 Twitter followers divided.
If she shared one of your posts, you would surely get a lot of new readers. Readers you would not otherwise have reached.
Creating a round-up article is very easy.
Step # 1: Find an interesting topic and ask a question.
If I wanted to write an article about generating traffic for a website, then I could ask the participating experts this question: "Which strategy did you use to increase the traffic of your website the most?"
Step # 2: Then make a list of experts and get in touch with each of them.
You have to find as many experts as possible and write to them all because not everyone will answer. If you need quotes from ten experts, you have to write at least 20.
If you can't find her email address, you should contact her on Facebook or another social network.
Write them a nice message and politely ask them to contribute!
Also, mention that if they participate in the round-up post, you can post a link on their website in exchange.
Step # 3: Collect the answers, write your blog post and publish it.
Don't forget to put all the necessary links.
Once the article is online, you need to send a message to all participants letting them know that the article has been published.

Brian Lang once has one Round-up article written about promoting a blog.
He collected 40 quotes and turned them into a rich and informative article that was shared over 5,000 times on social media. Buzzsumo even featured it as the most shared blog post of the week for the search term “blog promotion” for a week.
And what was so unusual about it now? Brian's blog was still unknown at the time!

9. Share interesting content on social media
If your blog is relatively young and new, it will be difficult for high-volume keywords to get ranked in Google's search results because your blog is relevant to it Domain Authority and Page Authority is missing.
In this case, you can use social networks to gain credibility and drive more traffic to your blog.
The screenshot below shows the Page Authority (PA) and Domain Authority (DA) of each page in the search results. For this I use the free one Moz SEO Toolbar.
The Page Authority is a metric developed by Moz. This measured value shows on a scale from 1 to 100 the probability of the respective page appearing in the search results. The higher the value, the better the ranking.
The value is determined taking several factors into account, including but not limited to: the length of the page, links, keywords, readability, etc.
The domain authority is the value of an entire website or domain. The higher the value, the higher up the website is placed in the search results.
But not every social platform is equally suitable for generating traffic and increasing the domain or page authority.
I'm not talking about Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, because everyone here does what they want anyway. I mean platforms that meet certain quality requirements.
These include Slideshare, Blogger, and Quora, to name a few. You can use these platforms to improve your rankings relatively quickly.
Does sharing content on these platforms help you get more traffic and better rankings?
Ana Hoffman gained 243,000 visitors in just 30 daysby sharing content on Slideshare. Her presentations were one of the most viewed content on the platform in 2013.
If you also want to use Slideshare to generate more traffic, you should follow my instructions.
Step # 1: Find a hot topic. In my experience, an interesting topic and a beautiful presentation are often not enough to attract the necessary attention.
Instead, look for topics that are already well received by your readers, as if you were looking for new ideas for a blog post. You have to find out what's hot right now.

Another great source is GrowthHackers, an online community for marketers. Here you can find current trending topics. Pick a topic that suits you, your company and your target group.
The article “10 Ways to Promote Content in Under 30 Minutes” would be great for a slideshare presentation.
Don't worry, your presentation doesn't have to have 50 or 100 slides.
35 slides is a good average. There are enough pages to provide the user with all the necessary information without losing their attention.
Step # 2: Create an outline. Read the article you found carefully and create an outline for your presentation from the main arguments. This makes it easier to put the presentation together afterwards.
Your slideshare presentation can be as simple as this:
- Join HARO
- Publish a press release
- Update the email signature
- Leave comments on influential blogs
- Mention sources on Twitter
- Use BuzzBundle
- Share posts in LinkedIn groups
- Share posts on StumbleUpon
Each of these points gets its own slide.
If you want to make a presentation on an article that was not written by yourself, you must first obtain permission from the author so as not to commit copyright infringement. This is very important and must be done before moving on to the next step. In addition, you must always mention the original source and the author in your presentation.
Step # 3: Find suitable footage. Slideshare presentations have to be visually appealing so that the user doesn't lose interest immediately. You can search for free stock photos on Google.
Gratisography has an image database with free photos that you can use freely.
Here are a few tips:
- The picture must match the respective topic
- The image must have a high resolution
- Only free stock photos without copyright restrictions may be used
- Images complement the text and must not distract from the content
Step # 4:Use successful Slideshare presentations as a template. Learn from the best to get more traffic and rank better.
