Why can some people not think for themselves?
8 things people who love themselves don't do
Unfortunately, not all of us are taught to truly love ourselves in early childhood, and it has become even more difficult these days.
Due to, among other things, social media and our conditioned consumer behavior, we are constantly comparing ourselves with everyone else and always looking for new consumption that should finally make us happy.
There may be people around you who say you are weird or different and they don't accept you. This can quickly become your own reality if you allow yourself to accept these thoughts. Especially when there are no voices around you that say otherwise.
Loving yourself doesn't really have much to do with how other people perceive you. It only has to do with how you see yourself.
Yes, there are a lot of people who don't want to talk about this topic. For men in particular, it's rather an uncool thing and yes, I would have been too cool for this topic at the time.
Why am I writing about it now? Psychologist Marisa Peer describes "I am not enough" as the greatest disease that grips humanity.
This sentence, this thought, which maybe only unconsciously runs in your head all day, is what everything can be traced back to.
“I'm not enough”, this lack of self-love, is what holds you back from your success, from great friendships, enough money or the relationship you have always wanted.
Because you can only give what you yourself have and the way you see yourself, so others see you too.
The experiences of our life lead some of us to this thought at some point, just as it was with me. Fortunately, at some point I realized that sometimes you have to dig deep and work on things there if you want to finally lead the great life that you have wanted for so long.
So here are 8 things for you to hold onto to avoid falling into this trap of "I'm not good enough for ...":
1. Don't wish to be someone else
People who love themselves never wish they were someone else.
I don't want to be anyone other than myself. This is what you should focus on. Love yourself and love everyone else.
2. Don't take anything personally
Is it nothing personal? Yes, it is always when someone judges you.
It happens from their experiences, not yours. But we think it would be a personal attack.
3. Don't listen to other people's opinions
People who love themselves never allow other people's opinions to influence their own actions.
How often have you wanted to do or have something in your life and let someone else talk you out of it? Maybe even from a friend who really just wanted your best.
Stay true to your authentic self. At the end of the day, only you can make the right decisions for yourself, because you are the only person in your life who knows 100% what kind of skin you are in.
4. Don't talk badly to yourself
How many times have you looked in a mirror and said "I hate you"? It doesn't even have to be that harsh statement. A “I'm not smart enough” or “I can't do it anyway” is enough.
You can't even imagine how I was talking to myself in my mind back then. The worst part is, not even I knew it.
Someone once said that if people said out loud what they were thinking, most of them would be speechless.
Try to pay attention to how you talk to yourself and be sure to do it as you would to your best friends and loved ones.
5. Don't compare yourself to others
People who love themselves do not compare themselves to others, because everyone has to make their own journey in life and so it makes no sense to compare their path with that of another.
First, it's not fair, and second, you're not the one or the other. So why should you do it?
The grass isn't always greener on the other side, in fact, there isn't even grass there. Things are not always as they appear on the outside.
6. Don't judge yourself for your past
People who love themselves don't blame themselves for what happened in their past.
Yes, a lot of us have stepped in crap in the past and we still wear it on our shoes. We take it with us everywhere.
It took me years to understand what my grandma was trying to explain to me back then. If you do not let go of the past, you cannot enjoy the present and, as its slave, you cannot master the future.
Don't make this mistake too. Let go No matter what it is.
Many of us go through something every day and that then becomes our past. We try to run away from her, but it just doesn't work.
So people who love themselves allow the past, they accept it, they realize that the past makes them who they are today.
And who you are today is great!
7. Don't look at yourself separately
People who love themselves do not feel cut off from others. We are all one.
There are no skin colors, no cultural differences or social classes and jobs.
We are all human and at the end of the day we all just cook with water.
Respect all the variations and whatever you are represent it. Don't be ashamed of it, don't let it embarrass you.
Be grateful that you are who you are. Take off all the labels that are placed on us and you will see the essence.
8. Don't think your story is set
People who love themselves do not feel that they cannot rewrite their own story.
Life is a book and every single day is a new page in it. However, this page is blank.
A new page means you can write whatever you want. You can even scribble around. You can say what you want and you can do what you want.
So don't feel trapped in this trap of thinking the book is already written. It is not mandatory. It is a blank book that you write as you go forward.
So you can rewrite your story at any time and steer it in a new direction.
Do you want to change? Just do it. Take the first small step and get the ball rolling. That's all you gotta do
