Is there a compulsory attendance for IB

PD Frankfurt 01 2021 (1)

13 “Switching to the future” means for this participant that he would like to be trained as a bicycle fitter at the International Federation (IB). In the one-year preparatory measure before the actual training begins, he is familiarized with the basics of the technology. Bernd Weilbeer from the action management of the Job Center Frankfurt, the trainer Stefan Enders and the social worker (B.A.) Mariel Seitz (from left to right). For the two-wheel mechanic master Stefan Enders, his job at the IB has a personal component: at the IB he was trained as a two-wheel mechanic himself many years ago and can now pass on his knowledge to others. Promote & Demand “preliminary measure” is based on the first year of training. The compulsory attendance at the facility at IB includes 35 hours per week, the participants have four more hours to work at home. In addition to the professional guidance, the participants receive socio-pedagogical support from the social pedagogue Mariel Seitz. In the sense of holistic care, she is the direct contact person for the participants in a sense “in all situations” and, if necessary, helps in minor or major problem situations of a psychological, health or social nature. It is about overcoming stumbling blocks on the way to one secure professional future. At the beginning of the measure, there is an initial discussion, which serves the holistic analysis of the situation and defines the courses of action, which then flow into a support plan. The main instrument for Mariel Seitz is the advisory discussion, individually or in a group. The current group, however, only consists of three participants. This means that the capacity of 16 available places in the preliminary measure is currently not exhausted, as Manuel Barth, the head of migration, language and housing at IB gGmbH responsible for the project, states. Eight participants could then start the training in the second phase. The possibility of regular entry leads to the expectation that the number of participants will increase, even if customers of the job center can again be addressed directly about the further training courses for bicycle mechanics in the event of a change in the corona situation. When carrying out the measure, strict compliance with the hygiene and distance rules is observed. It is mandatory to wear a mask. IB is prepared for the event that the presence operation has to be discontinued due to the corona. Then the measure continues “in an alternative implementation”, i. H. digital and online. “Bicycle” is very much in line with the current trend. The industry is experiencing a real boom with growth of 30 to 40 percent, as master two-wheeler mechanic Stefan Enders estimates. He has been dealing with the subject of two-wheelers with and without a motor since he was a child and it has been his job for thirty years. Now he has a special task as a trainer in an innovative project of IB Südwest gGmbH. IB Südwest gGmbH is part of the Internationale Bund e. v. (IB) and is active in the federal states of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland at 170 locations with 2,400 employees. The independent agency implements a further professional training measure for the job center in Frankfurt am Main, “training to become a bicycle fitter”. Bicycle mechanic is a recognized two-year apprenticeship with good chances of a job with future prospects. Stefan Enders wants to convey his enthusiasm for two-wheelers to the participants, but at the same time introduce them to professional work. The project started in August 2020 and has two phases: The first phase, which will run until the end of July 2021, is designed as a "preliminary measure". This is followed by the actual two-year training - but only for those participants who have shown their ability to train in this profession through various aptitude tests and active participation in the “preliminary measure”. The measure is a low-threshold offer from the job center without any special admission requirements beyond the secondary school leaving certificate. Interest in bicycles, manual skills and a certain basic mathematical knowledge are expected. Stefan Enders builds on this, promotes previous knowledge, gives practical instructions and has assembly and repair work carried out, both on new bicycles with the latest technology and on “old-timers”, such as: B. a rare geared bicycle from the 30s, on which he can show and explain the mechanics of that time. The program of Umsatteln auf die Zukunft Jobcenter enables training to be a bicycle fitter
