How can you lead a fulfilled life
Living a fulfilled life - the 10 best tips and habits
Have you jumped from one goal to another in the last few years? Have you often imagined in the past how you would finally find the right job, the right partner, the right apartment and then, YES then, you will have a fulfilling life?
But it probably didn't work out as well as you probably hoped for, did it? Because goals are a good source of motivation, but as soon as we have achieved them and the short-term bliss is over, we actually feel the same as before. The true fulfillment somehow fails to materialize this way!
This is also shown by studies: People who won the lottery or got married were just as happy or unhappy as before a year after the “life-changing” event. The key to a fulfilling or more fulfilling life does not lie in goals, but in something else. You will of course find out what that is in this article. 😉
What are the characteristics of a fulfilled life anyway?
When you ask yourself what a fulfilled life is, the first thing that comes to mind is of course the classic answers. Earn money, start a family, travel, have an exciting job, become grandparents, have friends and so on.
These dreams actually apply to most of us. However, the devil is in the details. After all, what kind of job will not only keep us happy, but also pay the retirement age well and be secure in the long term?
And do you really have to emulate the folks on Instagram who backpack through Southeast Asia for months? Or maybe you wouldn't be much more satisfied with a leisurely cycling holiday on the Moselle after all?

Then there is the fact that not only the world around us, but also we are constantly changing. What made you happy in your 20s may be a horror in your 30s. So the answer to what a fulfilling life is is not an easy question.

Values as a compass for a fulfilled life
First of all, we have to stop wondering what a fulfilled life looks like in general. Instead it is much more important to ask what your fulfilling life can / should look like. Your values are best used as a rough guide.
By values we do not mean the liver values, but everything that you personally consider to be valuable. This can be aesthetics, for example, if it is important to you to look good and you simply enjoy making yourself and your surroundings visually appealing. Values are a good advisor because they are often shaped in childhood and can therefore be relatively stable, but still flexible if desired.
At FlowFinder, for example, we put awareness, passion and flow at the top of our list of values. Even if our side, ourselves and our lives have broken new ground in recent years, we have always been able to find ourselves in these values with all of our actions.
In the following 9 tips we will give you ideas and food for thought on how you can reflect on these values so that you too can create and lead a fulfilled life.

9 tips for leading a fulfilling life
Every person is individual and therefore what fulfills a person is a very personal question. Therefore, we would like to offer you the following 9 tips as suggestions rather than as a blanket solution. So pick out what you like here and try it out.
Tip 1: start writing a journal
Writing a diary is a good way of reflecting on what is important to you in life and who you are. By writing a daily diary, you will also recognize patterns in your thinking and behavior. For example, do you keep getting upset about your boss or your colleagues? Then maybe your job or your company is not good for you.
Or you just don't feel comfortable in your job and would have to change something in your everyday work or your tasks. When you write a diary, you can reflect on what made you happy or unhappy today. It is important that you really write several times a week.
Because often it is our bad habits or unhealthy structures in our life that make us unhappy. We can only recognize it when we take a step back from our life and read old diary entries, for example. Only then do we recognize our mistakes and can correct them in order to lead a full life.

Tip 2: Get into the flow regularly
The flow is a state in which you are completely absorbed in your activity. You are completely at peace with yourself and forget time and space. The flow is also seen as a high of happiness.
The best way to get into the flow is when you have to fulfill a clearly defined task, the requirements of which you can just meet. For example, we regularly get into the flow when writing our blog articles.
But you can also muck out the closet or get into the flow when filing bills. Often, exercise is also a well-proven means of getting into the flow. Or grab an exciting book.
Some even say that flow is all you need for a fulfilling life. Because this complete absorption in the moment is the key to happiness. Bring yourself into the flow and decide for yourself! If you agree, then the consequence is to align your life in such a way that you get into the flow as often as possible.
Tip 3: Leave your comfort zone regularly
Comfort is important in life to be satisfied, but we can best enjoy our comfort zone when we step out of it every now and then. As a result, we also expand our comfort zone and can then deal better with difficulties in our life because we are less overwhelmed by them.
In addition, sometimes the things that make your life a little more fulfilling are outside of your comfort zone. This can be a job that you don't think you can do at first. Or you can make wonderful friends by leaving your comfort zone and talking to new people.
Tip 4: Practice gratitude more often
Often times, happiness is right under our noses. We already have so many good things in life, but because we see it every day, at some point we no longer see it. Conscious gratitude is the antidote here to prevent our happiness from becoming a matter of course.
Consciously take your time at least once a day to keep in mind what you are grateful for. These can be big things, like your health or your home. But that can also be little things, like your favorite chocolates or the beauty of the raindrops on your window.

Here you can also reflect again on your values. Why are you so grateful for the rain tropics and your chocolate? Maybe because you are a pleasure person who loves nature? When you look at the reasons why things make you happy, you will understand your values better. And if you understand your values better, then you can bring more of these values that make you happy into your life.
For example, you could then plan a trip to South America for your next trip, where you can visit cocoa plantations to enjoy even more nature and chocolate.
Tip 5: ask yourself a lot of questions
There are two ways in which questions can help you lead a fulfilled life. On the one hand, you can ask yourself questions and reflect on your values and what makes you happy. You have already received some suggestions for this.

On the other hand, you can ask your fellow human beings questions. This will help you build deeper relationships and really get to know these people. Since our relationships have the biggest impact on our happiness in life, according to a Harvard study, asking questions is a great way to build deeper relationships.
Tip 6: cultivate your relationships
It is also important to maintain your relationships. Don't take your friendships and family for granted. Keep in touch with old friends. Jump over your shadow and get in touch with those who rarely get in touch with you.
However, it is not about half-hearted contacts every jubilee years, but sincere interest. So before you write to people, think again about how you feel about this person.
If you have some toxic relationships that you always feel uncomfortable with, then you can safely delete those contacts. All the more important are the contacts that really give you something positive.
Tip 7: learn to meditate
When meditating, you are in the here and now. It is a moment of peace and without duties and responsibilities. In meditation you can just be without doing anything. Similar to flow, you could probably lead a completely fulfilled life if you only put yourself in a meditative / relaxed state often enough a day and thus train your mindfulness.

Tip 8: keep yourself fit and healthy
A full life doesn't have to be a long life. But it is still important to have as much energy as possible and to feel good in your body. You don't have to be able to run a triathlon to do this, don't worry!
Even with a little exercise, you can do something good for your body - and your mind -. You get more endorphins, more motivation, more well-being. You really don't have to raise the bar. Maybe you just start with short walks or little muscle exercises.
Tip 9: create your perfect day (morning ritual)
As I said at the beginning, happiness does not lie in achieving goals. Rather, we find happiness in the little beauties of everyday life or in the state of flow. So think about how you can bring more flow and gratitude into your day.
Do you want to work more with other people? Then see if you can align your work accordingly. Would you like to enjoy more healthy and delicious food? Then celebrate cooking as your leisure activity. Do you want to do more good? Then get involved in an aid organization. Reflect on what is important to you in life - and then bring more of it into your life.
Tip 10: Become a FlowFinder and work on your personal development
I hope the 9 previous tips have already given you a rough idea of what you can do and what specific habits you can build up in order to sustainably increase satisfaction and fulfillment in your life. You may have already noticed with all of the tips that they all ultimately have one central denominator in common.

You and your personality. Here at FlowFinder we are firmly of the opinion that a really happy, fulfilling and therefore successful life always begins and ends with one person: with you! Therefore, in our eyes it is of the utmost importance that you consciously decide to actively work on your personality, your habits and your abilities in the future.
Because you have probably already noticed that possession, reputation & any material things do not even begin to make you as happy & satisfied as the simple feeling of being at peace with yourself and being able to be truly proud of yourself every day!
Conclusion: A fulfilled life requires courage and discipline
One thing is certain: There is no one-size-fits-all solution for a fulfilling life! You must and may find your own, very personal path to happiness and fulfillment. This can sometimes take a lot of courage and a good deal of discipline, because you may be afraid of doing something wrong or it is not easy to achieve the goal in front of your eyes. At the end of the day, though, you have to keep reminding yourself that the only mistake would be not to try!
