How to clean the floor? It all depends on the floor covering / the material!

Cleaning the floor - a guide:

Hardly any other component in a building is subjected to as much stress as the floor, which has to withstand hundreds of steps and soiling from dust or liquids every day. For this reason, the floor is usually protected by a floor covering that is much easier to clean and also gives rooms a pleasant ambience. Depending on which floor covering is used, different types of cleaning and care are necessary. In addition, not every product is equally suitable for every type of flooring.

Suitable household appliances and cleaning agents make floor cleaning easier

When it comes to floor coverings, a rough distinction is made between textile coverings, such as carpets or carpets, and non-textile coverings, such as PVC, linoleum, cork, parquet or tiles. Which floor coverings are used depends on the one hand on individual taste and current fashion, but on the other hand also on the stress on the floor. In rooms where moisture can particularly stress the floor, easy-to-clean coverings such as PVC or tiles are usually laid. Living rooms, on the other hand, become more homely with carpets, parquet, laminate or wooden floorboards. Most apartments and houses have different floor coverings, so different items of daily use are required for cleaning.

First mop the floor, then care

Regardless of whether it is textile floor coverings or hard floors, it always applies that coarse dirt must first be removed before a care product is used. Floors made of wood, parquet, tiles and PVC are cleaned with a broom or with a vacuum cleaner and then wiped with a damp cloth. While tiles and PVC floors can withstand a little more moisture, wooden floorboards, laminate and parquet should only be cleaned with a damp cloth, as too much liquid can penetrate the joints and, in the worst case, the material swells or warps. Afterwards, the floor is sealed with a suitable care product. As a result, it repels dirt and liquids better and is therefore easier to clean in the future. In the case of carpets and carpets, it is usually sufficient to vacuum them thoroughly. Further care measures are only necessary in the case of coarse soiling. With the help of a special cleaner or a carpet cleaning machine, the textile coverings can be cleaned floor-deep, so to speak.
