General information on studying political science

Political science deals with political actors, processes, systems and their interaction. She illuminates both the regional and national as well as international politics. The course is scientific and theoretical, but an internship is often planned anyway. This is particularly important for career orientation, because even if political science offers you a lot of interesting insights and important skills at hand, it is ultimately up to you to make something of your studies professionally.

If you are interested in politics and want to use this interest for a professional career, political science is a good starting point. You can do political science on both Teaching position as well as subject-specific to study.

An important part of political science studies, especially at the beginning, is the methodology. Here you will learn social research and statistics, which are essential to understand the influence of policy measures. The NC for Political Science is very wavering. At popular locations, for example in Berlin, the NC can be in the ones range. Most of the time, however, the NC is in the two-man range, sometimes also in the three-man range. There is also admission-free alternatives. Since political science is only offered at state universities, apart from the NC, you usually have to do not meet any application criteria.

Private universities often set their deadlines individually so that the deadline can vary - sometimes application deadlines are extended again at the end.

If you are studying to become a teacher, your professional career in education is of course already relatively mapped out. But even if you have a specialist degree, you can go to education, but more likely to adult education or university teaching. Many political scientists are also employed in public administration.

You can also find work in politics itself: both with national and international institutions, with parties, political foundations, trade unions or associations.
