How many MVPs should James Harden have

NBA: James Harden sees himself as MVP of the season: "It's that simple"

James Harden led the Brooklyn Nets to another win in Detroit with 44 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. The 31-year-old wears the Nets in the absence of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and therefore sees himself as the most valuable player in the league.

"I feel like I'm the MVP. It's that simple," said Harden after the 113: 111 win at the Detroit Pistons. "I don't really want to talk about myself, but I try to give everything for my teammates every night to win."

It wasn't until January that Harden was traded by the Houston Rockets. Since then, the 31-year-old has played 31 games for the title contender, in which he averaged 26.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 11.4 assists.

"The numbers speak for themselves," said Harden of his possible MVP candidacy. "And we win. I can't say more about that." Harden has won the MVP once so far, in 2018, when he led the NBA in scoring for the Rockets with an average of 30.4 points.

This year's MVP race, on the other hand, is more open than it has been for a long time. With Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) and LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) the two top favorites are missing for several weeks now, the bookmakers now see Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) as the hottest contender. Outsider chances are given to Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers).
