Our mints

In 1998 the mint in Stuttgart, founded in 1374, and the mint in Karlsruhe, inaugurated in 1827, were merged to form the State Mints of Baden-Württemberg. Around 40% of German euro coins, medals and mintings are produced in both mints on behalf of other countries around the world. The State Mints of Baden-Württemberg are a state-owned company and are subordinate to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance. They mint the German circulation and commemorative coins on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance. The Deutsche Bundesbank is responsible for placing the coins on the market.

The State Mints of Baden-Württemberg are Germany's largest minting company. Around 40% of German euro coins, medals and mintings are made here on behalf of other countries around the world. The State Mints of Baden-Württemberg are thus one of the leading international minting companies.
